Well, you can do it all through social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Social media are websites or applications which require you to sign up and create an account for you to participate in social networking.

Social media can give you lots of benefits. But without taking care of your social media account, it may cause you big harm such as invading your privacy by getting all your

Now, here are the 6 ways to take care of your social media accounts and you might frustrate hackers if you do these things:

Create a strong password

This may be a piece of advice that you can see online regarding password security. A strong password contains:

  • At least 12 characters
  • Numbers and symbols
  • Uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Not a dictionary words or combined dictionary words such as “redcar”

But sometimes, you can’t avoid forgetting your passwords. Applications like Bitwarden or 1Password are secure ways to manage your passwords.

Change your password regularly (especially in a business account)

This is very important especially if you have a business account. Imagine a hacker posting unnecessary things using your account. What do you think your customers will think of you? This can damage your business! For sure, you won’t allow somebody to exploit your business account.

Furthermore, there’s a research study saying that there is a lot of money in selling login credentials and passwords. So, start changing your passwords regularly.

Avast Hack Check detected 29,898,788,430 stolen passwords that have been taken as a part of a security breach or other types of illegal online activity. Check here if your password is one of them.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Once you enable the 2FA, you will receive a code to your phone number whenever someone is trying to sign in to your account. So let’s say a hacker, who knows your login credentials, is trying to sign in to your account. He will not successfully sign in to your account because he will not receive the code needed.

If you want to enable two-factor authentication in your Google account, follow these steps:

  • Go to Google Account and log in to your account.
  • Click on the Security tab on the left.
  • Click on 2-Step Verification.
  • Click the Get Started tab.
  • Enter your Google password to verify it’s you.
  • Click Try It Now.
  • Tap Yes on the Google pop-up that appears on your phone or tablet.
  • Confirm your phone number. It serves as the backup option in case Google Prompt doesn’t work.
  • Enter the 6 digit code that you received to your phone number and click Next.
  • Click Turn On to enable the 2FA.

Limit the people who know your login credentials

Login credentials must always be in private. Of course, this is not something that you will share with many people especially if it is a business account. As much as possible, keep limiting the login credentials to you and to your business partner/s only or whoever you think is the most trusty person in your company.

If you share it with several people, there’s a bigger chance that someone might access your account, change the name or password, post or send out messages to your contacts and pretend that it’s you. Again, this will affect your business and your reputation as well.
